Rob Gonzalez to perform in La Crosse
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Rob Gonzalez will return to La Crosse this summer to perform his first area concert in four years. The concert will take place on Friday, June 29 at The Pumphouse Regional Arts Center.
Gonzalez is coming off several recent successes, including an ongoing musical collaboration with singer Kevin Richardson, currently underway at a recording studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Richardson recently made international entertainment headlines with the London announcement that he is rejoining his multi-platinum selling group The Backstreet Boys after a six year leave.
This past December, Gonzalez and Richardson co-starred in a highly publicized benefit concert held in Beverly Hills, California. The concert was organized and produced by Gonzalez himself to benefit The Angeles Clinic Foundation, a cancer research and treatment center based in Santa Monica, California. Gonzalez earned national press for his involvement in the concert, including a feature on E! Entertainment News where he performed alongside Richardson.
Gonzalez first drew attention in the La Crosse area in 2007, with the launch of Melvincares.com, a website based on his idea to combine sales of independent music downloads with the effort to raise money for deserving charities. He also performed several successful local benefit concerts, including a concert at the La Crosse Center, which drew a crowd of nearly 2,000 fans.
In 2008, Gonzalez departed from La Crosse for Los Angeles, where he now permanently resides. He is originally from Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. One of Gonzalez's most popular songs is aptly entitled, "Missing Wisconsin."
